Slot canyoneering in Southern Utah

Inside the Blarney slot canyon

Captured inside the Blarney Slot Canyon in Southern Utah.  The inside of this slot is one of the more photogenic I have seen.  Due to the need to travel light and quick, I used my trusty compact Canon G7X with its 1" sensor and relatively fast f/1.8 lens.  It works pretty well for this type of situation, offering reasonable image quality to ISO 3200.

I was there with 3 other friends last week exploring more of the canyons in the region between Escalante and the Glenn Canyon National Recreation area south of Hanksville.  We hit 3 different class 3 technical slots, dry camping most of the time.  Given the amount of closures due to the COVID19 situation we tried to be self sufficient for water, food, clean-up.

Constrychnine slot canyon exploration video on YouTubeBelow are photographs captured at the slot canyons Egypt1 off Hole-in-the-Rock Road, Constrychnine in the Poison Springs Basin, and Blarney a little bit further south.  Some drone captures are also shown in the last 4 photos of the Poison Springs canyons (Arscenic, Sileanide, and Constrychnine).

You can also view a video of the adventure through the Constrychnine Slot Canyon on my YouTube channel here.
