oak trees of the Sierra foothills on a foggy morning

Old oak in the fog

Foggy morning conditions created an opportunity for some misty photography of the oak trees out in the Sierra foothills south of the town of Folsom.

I had been patiently waiting for the right fog at one of my favorite locations off of Scott Road.  Not too heavy, or with high clouds, and such that it would start to burn off by mid morning, allowing the sun's rays to start to permeate through.  Getting up on this morning, it looked right.  So after making a cup of coffee and grabing my camera gear I was out the door and at location by about 8 AM.  The fog was still a bit thick, but after killing a little time scouting for some compositions, the fog started to thin and let a bit of sun in, before temporarily disappearing again, as if it was teasing me.

After about an hour of shooting, the fog thinned out enough that I decided to put away the DSLR and get out my drone, taking some aerials of the same landscape, but from above (see the bottom row).
