Carson River basin colors
Aspen tree fall colors on the eastern slope of Carson Pass.
Fall colors in the Hope Valley region are peaking right now. The image above and below were photographed last week. These were captured along an aspen grove by Red Lake that sits on the western edge of Hope Valley. This particular area tends to get less traffic than some more popular roadside locations further down in the valley nearer to Blue Lakes, Picketts Junction (Highway 88 and 89), or Sorenson's.
I will be heading out again on a motorcycle camping trip through the Eastern Sierra for some additional fall color photography, potentially exploring some more off-the-beaten-path locations. While passing through the area three weeks prior, it appeared that fall colors further south were running a bit later than normal in comparison to the Carson River basin.
