Dead Horse Point from below
Dead Horse Point as photographed from below along Potash Road at the edge of Canyonlands National Park in Utah. I traveled there last week, exploring the area by off-road motorcycle. Using the town of Moab as our base, myself and other friends rode the rugged terrain of the White Rim Trail, Kokopelli Trail, and the Lockhart Basin. You can see a video of the dual sport motorcycle ride through Lockhart Basin here.
Use of an off-road motorcycle gives the advantage of reaching more remote areas that alternatively require a high clearance 4WD and potentially take much longer to reach. At the same time, while hordes of tourists could be found on the pavement in nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, we would almost have these areas of the park to ourselves with the exception of a few other motorcyclists, mountain bikers, and other 4wd vehicles.
The images on this page were captured from my Canon G7X point-and-shoot. I find this type of camera most convient for motorcycle travel, given its small size to fit in my tank bag. This allows me to shoot more quickly without taking my helmet off or even getting off the bike, while having the benefit over a camera phone with a better quality lens with a zoom capability and larger 1" sensor.
