Morning daffodils

Morning daffodils

Daffodil flowers blooming within the oak woodlands of the Effie Yeaw nature preserve. I had the pleasure of some slightly foggy weather in the morning while out exploring this small little preserve inside Ancil Hoffman park off the American River Parkway.  This helped to create a bit more moodiness for the images captured.  Photography here always seems to bring some new surprise.  I guess that is one aspect that I get some enjoyment from; always keeping it more interesting...

Below are some other select images also captured that morning at the same location.  For this outing I used the Canon EOS 7D mark II body, while using either the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 STM lens or the EF 100-400mm f/4.5 -5.6 L-series lens. They were shot with the camera in auto-ISO mode, with my goal just to see how well the 7Dmk2 does under these conditions. So far I have been quite pleased with its results in terms of noise (and auto focus) performance. The deer below was captured at ISO 6400 and only 1/30th of a second and f/5.6 at 130mm, being able to get quite close.
