Side of a former factory building at the old Clarksburg sugar mill. When looking for compositional possibilities here, I noticed this single light illuminating one of the windows.  I explored the area for photography as part of a field trip with the Viewpoint Gallery last week.  We were allowed to wander the ground of this facility, that much of which has now been revamped by a conversion to a winery and tasting area that is shared amongst multiple vineyards based in the delta area of the Sacramento central valley.  Some other images captured at the sugar mill are shown here:

To embellish the starkness for this top composition, I desaturated the image with the exception of the one window that was illuminated.  This was decided after reviewing it rendered as a pure black and white, and also in color.  Neither tended to draw enough contrast for the one window in comparision to the final result above.
