Reflected sky

Reflected sky

The morning sky reflected in a seasonal creek of a meadow at an undisclosed location on the outskirts of Sacramento.

I captured this after waking up early and noticing some definition in the clouds of the early morning sky.  I was out the door within 5 minutes, after throwing on my boats, grabbing my tripod and camera, and without even the enjoyment of my regular morning coffee or a shower.  With this sky, I had a good idea of where to shoot with the potential for some compositions with water based reflections, but only had a short amount of time to get there.

Below are some additional images that I captured that morning and the previous couple of days in the surrounding area.  I feel fortunate to have such a fertile environment for photographic compositions that can be especially productive after some rains and a good sky to work with.  Given much of this area is targeted for development, I have been milking it more than usual while the opportunities exist.
