Blowing from the edge
Wind blowing the top edge of a dune out at the Eureka Dunes of Death Valley. These dunes are less visited than the more popular Mesquite Dunes in the primary valley, but as a result less trampled and disturbed by the hordes of tourists. This is because they are more difficult to reach and no faclities for 50 miles in any direction. In this visit the wind was blowing the sand very hard, as it was necessary to keep my gear protected by wrapping it in my shirt, and stay high up on the top of the dune. This got tricky when trying to ascend some of the dunes from the leeward side, in some cases having to retreat until the wind would temporarily subside.
