Son of a Freedom Fighter

A little boy hanging out under a statue possibly commerating a past struggle against invaders of the past. Photographed in the Druze village Majdal Shams in the upper reaches of the Golan Heights adjacent to the border with Syria. I found this town quite interesting compared to some of the other areas visited. Syria still considers the residents of this town as Syrian citizens, while Israel also granted them Israeli citizenship (but with more limited rights). There also seemed to be more new wealth in this town compared to others, possibly due to the recent strife in Syria and subsequent exodus of those who have had the ability to escape across the border.
