An ancient native American pictograph within Horseshoe Canyon of Canyonlands National Park. I visited this remote region west of the more traveled section of Canyonlands last week as part of another slot canyoneering adventure in the surrounding regions. The pictograph shown above is part of what is known as the Great Gallery, one of the largest known pictograph panels of these ancient peoples. According to the local ranger that I met during this hike, these panels have an approximate age of about two to three thousand years, and thus pre-date the more popular Anasazi culture cliff dwellers. Below you will find more images captured above or in Horseshoe Canyon during this approximately 8 mile hike, while exploring the various panels along the way.
