Bald eagle over water

Bald eagle over water

A bald eagle flying over a flooded farm field in the Klamath wildlife refuge. Photographed this weekend while visiting the tail end of the season for seeing these magnificient raptors along the border between California and Oregon.  Most of the bald eagles in this area fly north for the warmer season starting about mid-March.  During this trip, we spotted about 8-10 unique eagles on the first day, plus many other raptors including red-tailed hawks, rough legged hawks, prairie falcons, northern harriers, and short-eared owls.
