Bowling ball beach

Bowling Ball Beach

Bowling ball shaped rocks at Schooner Gulch beach. Photographed at dusk when the lower light allowed a longer 4 second time exposure.  This particular beach is facinating for some of the unusual geology you can find here.  These rocks appear to have been derived from concretions that have eroded out of some sedimentary rock layers that have been folded nearly vertical that run up to the cliffs edge.  The area is best viewed at low tide.
