Listening to the stars

A radio telescope at the Caltech Owens Valley radio observatory (OVRO).  It is run by the CalTech university for research on radio sources from distant galaxies and cosmic background radation studies. Photographed on a cold night last week with the milkyway visible in the sky.  This was a composition target of mine for some time, and I finally had the opportunity when passing through the area on a clear night with no moon. To minimize creating any sort of consternation with the personel at this facility, I choose to park at some distance and approach the last hundred yards on foot, using my night vision in lieu of any headlamp as a guide to avoid attracting any undue attention.
