Doorway to the past
Doorway of the Moonhouse ruins on the Cedar Mesa plateau with a native american basket at the threshold. This basket was woven from some of the native indians in the same general region back in the 1930's. It is something I purchased earlier and brought along for this shoot as a prop to help accentuate the theme for this photograph. The Moonhouse ruins are some of the most complex of the Anasazi, and quite photogenic. There is an outer courtyard wall that protects a complex of separate chambers behind it like this one shown. Because of this, you will also find the paint is still preserved that they used to decorate the exterior of the kiva walls.
This is a preview of a new trip, as I will be traveling to the Cedar Mesa region again soon for the purpose of more ruin exploration as well as further canyoneering. You can see more images from these ruins from a previous travelogue I have published here.
