Picture of the week

A majestic Bristlecone pine tree in the White Mountains with the Milkway as the backdrop. The night skies of this area are considered some of the darkest in California. This is due to both the remoteness of the area and relatively high altitude. This particular tree was up at about 10,500 feet in elevation.
